Liverpool are still hot favourites to claim the English Premier League title this season, as the Reds moved back into the top four after picking up a 3-1 away win at Tottenham.
The reigning Premier League champions had lost ground on arch-rivals Manchester United and Manchester City after a five-match winless run, but looked back to their fluent best against Spurs, with Roberto Firmino, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Sadio Mane all getting on the scoresheet.
If Liverpool keep this up, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will not be able to keep pace with Jurgen Klopp’s men in the long run, and the Premier League trophy could end up back at Anfield for a second successive year despite their recent struggles for consistency.
Liverpool may have gone through a bad spell, but every good side will have these runs and despite that, Jurgen’s forces could still, very well, finish above United. They have got some top players., and with Henderson showing his capabilities in the centre-back position, the Reds can be backed to do well for the coming weeks.
And while Liverpool continue to struggle defensively, they still have potent attacking talents and you cannot write them off – adding to fact that their title credentials are valid as they ever were.
The convincing win over a strong Spurs side put a stamp on their validity to remain as Premier League champions, and while they were given opportunities by their opponents, Liverpool proved that they have what it takes.
They punished Spurs and Liverpool are going to in the top-four, or perhaps leaders again, sooner or later. When you have got a strikeforce like that, these guys know how to be around the top of the Premier League. Even though they have had a bit of a blip in form and a little downturn in form in front of goal.
However, all this will count for nothing if Manchester City go on and win all of their remaining games of the season!
