KIOXIA’s Tips and Tricks: Mobile Legends Bang Bang

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a mobile multiplayer online battle arena developed and published by Moonton, a subsidiary of ByteDance. The game was released in 2016 and has become popular in Southeast Asia. It was even chosen for the first medal event eSports competition at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines!

I love this game because I can play it anywhere, as well as battle with my friends. It is exciting and quite fast-paced, making it low commitment and a great way to kill time while queueing or waiting for friends.

For Mobile Legends, the maps are generally quite small and each game takes about 20-30 minutes only. People often mistake the game as one with no strategy, and we just have to spam buttons. However, that’s untrue! Let me share with you some of my best tips to win the game.

First, always be mindful of your team and enemy’s team position on the mini map. I recommend discussing with your team before the game on which lane to ‘take’. Usually, we will spread evenly between top, mid, and bottom lanes. It is important to keep an eye on the mini map as through the game, you can also start to notice your enemy’s strategy and position. Do check the mini map at least once every 10 seconds. If you see the whole enemy team coming at you in the bottom lane, do not engage alone. Call for backup!

Next, destroying turrets should be your priority. Most players aim to get the most kills, but what really gives your team an edge is by destroying their turrets. The more you destroy their turrets and their jungle, the easier it is to win.

Farming is underrated in the game. It is actually so important to farm, as we get gold. The more gold you have, the higher your chances of winning. One of the best early game strategies is definitely stealing your enemies buff. The most important jungle monster for gold is the Crab. Killing the Crab successfully will take you to a higher gold lead.

If you are a solo player, learn to have a good rotation:

  1. Start in the middle lane and quickly clear the minion wave
  2. Then, head to Lithowanderer for a steady HP when taking the blue buff
  3. Take the blue buff
  4. Return to the middle lane and defeat the minion wave
  5. Take the enemy jungle, then the normal jungle monster, and finally the red buff
  6. You are now in the fourth level. Try to get the first kill in the top lane. Make them recall if you don’t obtain a kill
  7. Take the crab

If you can complete this rotation, you will undoubtedly be in the gold lead. That’s the basic rotation plan; remember to farm and destroy turrets whenever your lane is clear.

Now that you have learnt the basic tips, jump in and start playing! Trust me, you will be so engrossed in the game.
