Nuno on defeat against Chelsea
Nuno Espirito Santo analysed the differences which led to Chelsea’s victory over his Spurs side.
Chelsea have continued their strong start to the season after defeating Tottenham 3-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. They now find themselves joint top of the Premier League with Liverpool on 13 points.
Tottenham put the European champions under pressure in the first half, but they held firm and were probably lucky to make it to half time without conceding. Thomas Tuchel’s side improved after the break and took the lead in the 49th minute through Thiago Silva, who leapt highest to a Marcos Alonso corner to head home.
The second came less than 10 minutes later when N’Golo Kante’s shot from outside the area deflected off Spurs’ Eric Dier and past Hugo Lloris in goal.
The third came in stoppage time when Antonio Rudiger received the ball from Timo Werner on the right and swivelled to fire a low, powerful shot into the corner. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will rue not capitalising more on their chances in the first half, while Chelsea move from strength to strength with another big three points.
