English Premier League 2021/22 Season | Matchday 10 Roundup

The English Premier League (EPL) league table continues to get intense with each passing matchday. This past weekend produced some interesting results.

Leicester City 0-2 Arsenal

Leicester vs Arsenal ended in a fairly comfortable away win, as clinical finishing and a fine display from Aaron Ramsdale stretched the Gunners’ unbeaten run to nine games in all competitions. Gabriel and Emile Smith Rowe scored early in the first half and although Ramsdale made some superb stops, Leicester never really looked like getting back in the game. The win moves Arsenal on to 17 points as they momentarily moved up to fifth in the Premier League table, while Leicester remain on 14 points.

Newcastle 0-3 Chelsea

On a day in which Liverpool and Manchester City dropped points, Chelsea’s 3-0 win away at Newcastle United seemed like a big moment. It was full-back Reece James who opened the scoring in the 65th minute with a brilliant strike into the top corner from within the Newcastle box. Like Ben Chilwell on the opposite flank, James’ increasing goal threat adds a new dimension to this Chelsea team and the England star added to his tally just over ten minutes later with a rasping shot following some good work from Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Jorginho then sealed the victory with an 80th-minute penalty to send his side three points clear at the top of the league.

Tottenham 0-3 Man Utd

Manchester United delivered a hugely valuable performance for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as they beat Tottenham 3-0 in London on Saturday. A run of one point from four Premier League games, culminating in that embarrassing 5-0 home defeat to Liverpool last week, had left the Red Devils manager knowing a bad result at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could have left his position untenable. United’s win lifted them back up to fifth in the Premier League, only three points behind Manchester City, who were earlier shocked at home by Crystal Palace.
