English Premier League 2021/22 Season | Matchday 16 Roundup

The English Premier League (EPL) league table continues to get intense with each passing matchday. This past weekend produced some interesting results.

Man City 1-0 Wolves

A Raheem Sterling winner and a moment of madness from Wolves’ Raul Jimenez stole the headlines, as Manchester City marched on once more in their defence of the Premier League crown on Saturday afternoon. City battled their way to a hard-fought 1-0 win at the Etihad Stadium, despite Wolves’ best efforts to keep the Premier League champions at bay. Raheem Sterling was ultimately Manchester City’s saviour once again on the day, slotting home his penalty with ease and entering the Premier League’s 100 club for goals in style.

Chelsea 3-2 Leeds United

Chelsea got back to winnings way with a 3-2 triumph over Leeds United in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon. The Blues were set to be the architects of all their own pain by shooting themselves in the foot with silly errors, but two penalties bailed them out and ensured they clinched the three points.

Behind the scenes: Sadio Mané’s first day at Liverpool

Head back to the summer of 2016 when Sadio Mane first joined Liverpool from Southampton. The forward has gone on to score over 100 goals for the club and help win the Champions League and Premier League.

Liverpool 1-0 Aston Villa

An exciting watch from end to end, Liverpool were pressing the Villa team with all their lives, with the away side defending together as a strong unit. Sitting back mostly, Liverpool camped in the Villa half for most of the game, creating chances after chances which were not to be finished. Mohamed Salah converted, scoring through a narrow angle as Emiliano Martinez guessed the right way, and got his team the much deserved lead. More chances came to Liverpool in added time, but in vain. Liverpool stubbornly held onto the lead till the full time whistle, getting the valuable 3 points.
