English Premier League 2021/22 Season | Matchday 26 Roundup

The English Premier League (EPL) league table continues to get intense with each passing matchday. This past weekend produced some interesting results.

West Ham 1-1 Newcastle

Joe Willock’s first goal of the season earned Newcastle a deserved 1-1 draw with West Ham on a wet and windy afternoon at London Stadium. The Hammers had taken the lead through Craig Dawson, who also netted last week, but Eddie Howe’s side were well worth a point after a spirited display in the capital, though they may head back to the North East thinking they should have bagged all three points. Willock fired wide of Fabianski’s post with an effort from outside the box but that was good as it got in terms of second half chances; West Ham failing to have any significant efforts on Dubravka’s goal, not even registering a shot on target.

Man City 2-3 Tottenham

City lost for the first time in 16 Premier League games after a dramatic final few minutes against Tottenham. The visitors had gone ahead early in the game, but the Blues fought back with an Ilkay Gundogan equaliser. Harry Kane gave Spurs the lead on the hour-mark, setting up a frantic finale. Riyad Mahrez levelled in added time from the penalty spot before Kane snatched a winner three minutes later.

Rangnick: ‘It was a very intense game’

Man United coach Ralf Rangnick spoke in his post-match press conference about the 4-2 win in the Premier League against Leeds United.

Leeds United 2-4 Man Utd

Manchester United triumphed 4-2 over Leeds United in a whirlwind clash at Elland Road on Sunday, and the stormy weather unsurprisingly wasn’t the only ferocious factor. United recovered from a quickfire collapse after half-time to secure another huge three points on their quest for a top-four spot.
