English Premier League 2021/22 Season | Matchday 30 Roundup

The English Premier League (EPL) league table continues to get intense with each passing matchday. This past weekend produced some interesting results.

Wolves 2-3 Leeds United

Luke Ayling scored a dramatic late winner as Leeds United came from two goals down to defeat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 at Molineux. Jack Harrison and Rodrigo scored after Raul Jimenez was sent off early in the second half due to a collision with Leeds keeper Illan Meslier. Jesse Marsch’s side were 2-0 down at half time and had four players come off injured by the 55th minute. But an epic comeback sparked by the red card handed Leeds a vital victory that took them seven points above 18th-placed Watford in the Premier League.

Aston Villa 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal tightened their grip on fourth place in the Premier League thanks to Bukayo Saka’s first-half strike in Saturday’s 1-0 win against Aston Villa. The Gunners’ five-match winning run was halted with defeat to Liverpool in midweek, but the Gunners made a strong response at Villa Park. A bright start for the visitors was rewarded when Saka fired home from the edge of the box with half an hour played, bringing up Arsenal’s 2,000th goal in the competition. Ollie Watkins skimmed the post in the second half but Arsenal, without Aaron Ramsdale and Gabriel Martinelli through injury and illness respectively, saw out another win.

Harry Kane on his Spurs future and relationship with Conte

England striker Harry Kane spoke about his future at Tottenham and the relationship with his coach Antonio Conte.

Tottenham 3-1 West Ham

Tottenham Hotspur toppled London rivals West Ham courtesy of a 3-1 victory that allows them to leapfrog the Hammers in the table. Kurt Zouma was the guilty party as he managed to inadvertently knee the ball beyond his goalkeeper. Said Benrahma pulled one back from the visitors with a fantastic finish from an in-swinging Aaron Cresswell corner, but West Ham failed to generate any momentum as a result. Spurs were eventually good value for their money, with Son adding his second and Tottenham’s third late on to put the game beyond any doubt.
