Talking Cock Session: Big Transfer Rumours with Possible Ronaldo Departure from Man Utd

In our weekly talk cock sessions, we look at the latest transfer news, gossips, and highlights that have football fans all over the world buzzing with excitement.

Barcelona and Arsenal bid for Marcus Rashford

FC Barcelona are reportedly the latest club to show an interest in a potential summer transfer window deal for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. The England international has endured a difficult season for Man Utd and it makes sense that he could be open to a new challenge, while the Red Devils might also feel it’s time to cash in on him. According to Todo Fichajes, this possibly points towards Barcelona swooping for Rashford, who would apparently be allowed to leave Old Trafford for around €60million. This follows Rashford also being linked with Arsenal by Football Insider, but one imagines United would much rather sell the 24-year-old abroad than to one of their top four rivals.

Newcastle United ready to offer Sean Longstaff new deal

Newcastle United are reportedly ready to offer a new contract to midfielder Sean Longstaff. The 24-year-old is coming towards the end of his current deal, making him a free agent this summer, but it seems the Magpies are keen to keep him at St James’ Park. According to the Times, Newcastle chiefs are preparing to offer Longstaff fresh terms as they hope to avoid losing him on a free at the end of this season. Despite the club’s new owners targeting so many big names in the transfer market, it seems Longstaff also remains an important part of their long-term plans. It’s perhaps not ideal that NUFC have left it a bit late with Longstaff here, but fans will surely be hoping this can be resolved quickly.

Chelsea to offer Reece James new contract

Chelsea are reportedly ready to hand Reece James a new contract once their takeover has been completed. The sanctions on current owner Roman Abramovich mean the Blues cannot currently offer any of their players or staff new contracts, but it looks like tying James down to a new and improved deal will be a priority once the club is under new ownership. Continue watching James has risen up through the Chelsea academy to become one of the club’s most important first-team players in recent times, and it makes sense that they’re eager to ensure the England international is committed for the long-term. According to 90min, there has been some recent interest in James from Real Madrid, though Chelsea remain relatively relaxed about the situation.

Premier League clubs eyeing Timo Hubers

Crystal Palace, Watford and Fulham have joined Leeds United in the race to sign FC Koln defender Timo Hubers who could be available this summer. The 25-year-old has a £6.7million release clause in his contract according to Football Insider, which is easily affordable for all the aforementioned clubs. Continue watching Hubers has spent his entire career in Germany, having come through the youth ranks at Hannover and along with Koln, they are the only clubs he has played for throughout his career. The German signed for his current club last summer but they have been struggling financially since the pandemic and the 25-year-old is a sellable asset for the Bundesliga outfit.

Sergio Reguilon set to depart Tottenham

Tottenham signed Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020 following a really impressive loan spell at Sevilla but now the move is going to reverse this summer with the left-back set to return to the La Liga giants. The Spaniard will play for Los Blancos next season – the La Liga side want competition for their current starter Mendy, who has been very inconsistent this season. The deal would cost €40million as the La Liga side have a buyback clause in the Spurs man’s contract and the London club are already aware that the Spanish side will trigger it.

Real Madrid monitoring Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly being eyed up by his former club Real Madrid ahead of this summer’s transfer window. The Portugal international has had a mixed second spell at Old Trafford since returning from Juventus last summer, putting in some fine individual performances in a team that has struggled overall. Ronaldo has managed an impressive tally of 23 goals in 36 games in all competitions, but his future is now thought to be in doubt as incoming manager Erik ten Hag might be keen to rebuild this squad without the ageing forward. Apparently, Ronaldo is wanted back in Madrid, where he enjoyed the best form of his career, so it makes sense that Los Blancos would be willing to take a gamble on him, even if he’s turning 38 next season.
