Marc-André ter Stegen leads Europe’s top five leagues in shots to saves ratio

He has conceded just six goals in LaLiga Santander and kept 13 clean sheets. No goalkeeper has conceded as few goals as the German international, and he leads Europe’s major leagues in the shots-to-saves ratio (84.6%).

Week after week, FC Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández has reiterated ter Stegen’s value to the side. “We’re watching the best ter Stegen so far,” he said after Barça’s 1-0 win over Getafe CF this past weekend. “He is a leader for everyone, and it’s crucial that the goalkeeper help the team pick up points.”

Ter Stegen has also set a new personal record this season by going 636 minutes without conceding in LaLiga Santander, becoming in the process the first shot-stopper to keep 10 clean sheets in the first 12 matches of the season in the competition’s history
