Jonny Evans is on the verge of signing for Manchester United on a one-year contract.

Evans started pre-season training with the Red Devils in July, and he featured in four of their pre-season friendlies against Lyon, Wrexham, Borussia Dortmund and Athletic Bilbao after signing a short-term deal.

Man United head coach Erik ten Hag revealed that the club were in talks with the Northern Ireland international over a contract.

Evans is believed to have made a huge impression on Ten Hag and his coaching staff during his time at Old Trafford due to his leadership qualities.

Evans is preparing to sign a contract until June 2024.

That could mean Harry Maguire is now 6th choice centre-back at the club.
