Manchester United and Newcastle are reportedly eyeing a January deal for Juventus star Adrien Rabiot.

The Premier League duo are prepared to do battle for the midfielder when the transfer window opens.

Man Utd were strongly linked with the 28-year-old in the summer but a deal never materialised, while Newcastle are keen to strengthen their squad for the Champions League.

However, Massimiliano Allegri wants to tie him down to a new contract.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is considering retirement should he fail to receive an offer from a major club to become their first choice, the Guardian reports.

Without a club since leaving United in the summer, 32-year-old De Gea has rejected several approaches, including from Saudi Arabia, with money not a motivating factor for the Spaniard.

De Gea is retaining fitness in the hope of an offer from the right club and from a manager who views him as being in his prime. After departing United in the summer De Gea, who will be 33 in November, would like to play for a club capable of competing for major honours.

De Gea is thought to be disappointed regarding the manner of his departure from United after his contract expired. Erik ten Hag’s wish to replace him as the No 1 with André Onana meant De Gea was offered a new deal on reduced terms, having been one of United’s highest-earners, on about £375,000 a week.

Villarreal are interested in signing Donny van de Beek next summer.

The Dutch midfielder has struggled for game time at Manchester United since his arrival in September 2020 and spent last season on loan at Everton. He played just 163 minutes in the Premier League last term and has not played a single minute this season.

The 26-year-old was widely expected to leave Old Trafford before September’s transfer deadline but a move failed to materialise.

United shelled out £25 million on Van de Beek three years ago and is expected to take a significant hit on their outlay.

West Ham have ended their interest in signing free agent Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard, out of contract after leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of last season, had been training with David Moyes’ side since August.

However, West Ham is “no longer interested” in signing the former England international.

The England midfielder will now train with Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq in a bid to earn a contract in Saudi Arabia.

It remains to be seen as to whether the ex-United star can earn himself a contract after failing to do so at West Ham.
